Child Wrangler:
Works with Stage Manager. This position assists backstage during rehearsals
and performances to keep child actors organized and quiet while other performers
are working
Concessions:
Reports to Front House Manager. Responsible for selling soft drinks, popcorn,
candy and other food items to theatre patrons. They must be able to move quickly
and efficiently around the counter, operate food equipment, make change accurately,
and follow directions. Positive customer and staff relations are essential.
Duties include:
* Greet and serve customers at the concessions counter in prompt, friendly and
courteous manner.
* Operate cash register, and make change precisely.
* Set up and close out concession counter: operating popcorn popper, drink machine,
hotdog warmer etc. including clean up of this equipment.
* Maintain cleanliness of concession area as needed.
* Inventory and stock concessions and supplies.
* Be able to direct customers to facilities upon request.
* Immediately report any incident, accident or unsafe conditions to Artistic
Director or designee.
* Maintain neat personal appearance.
Costume Construction:
Reports to Production Costumer. Assists by Sewing, tailoring and altering and
repairing costumes as needed, before and during productions.
Dresser
Works with Stage Manager and Costumer. Volunteers work during performances to
assist actors with costume changes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring
that
costumes are hung appropriately, between scenes. May be asked to assist with
children’s costume changes.
Facility Maintenance
Reports to Technical Director and Front House Manager. Responsibilities include,
any construction, carpentry, repairs and clean-up necessary to maintaining the
amphitheatre and stage.
Fund Raising
Assists Artistic Director in planning and executing fund raising activities
/ functions
Light Board Operator
Works with Technical Director, Scenic Designer and Lighting Designer. Responsible
for operating light board during production. Also assists in hanging and focusing
lights.
Lighting Design
Works with Technical Director / Scenic Designer. Responsible for designing the
lighting & sound for the theatre production Applicants should be a true
collaborator. Must be willing to work as part of a team led by the director
and willing to keep open lines of communication. A healthy respect and understanding
of all those members of the production team is expected. Also assists in hanging
and focusing lights
Make-up and Hair
Reports to make-up coordinator. Responsible for designing and executing makeup
& hair requirements for the final production. Must be willing to work as
part of a team led by the director and willing to keep open lines of communication.
A healthy respect and understanding of all those members of the production team
is expected.
Duties Include:
* work with coordinator to have sufficient makeup area(s) ready for actors at
least two and a half hours before each performance (plenty of tissues, baby
oil, chairs, and paper towels)
* keep the makeup material clean, neat, and in order.
* Take out the make up materials before the show and place them on the table.
You are to keep the makeup area neat during the show. After each show clean,
straighten out the materials, and put them away.
* Be sure during the show that make up is maintained on the actors. Powder shiny
faces and correct smudges. Some actors will do part or their entire make up.
* Know the makeup requirements of this show and be sure that the appropriate
makeup is available well in advance of the play. It takes two weeks to ship
some make up. Be sure we are well stocked
Marketing/Ad Sales
Reports to the Marketing Director. This work involves use of a car, minimal
physical activity but an active mind. Hours vary and can be flexible. Volunteers
report to the
marketing committee.
Duties Include:
* Assist with all production related mailings and production related materials
* Assist with all production related mailings and production related materials
* Assist with the distribution of marketing materials including postering neighborhoods,
theatres, coffee shops etc.
* Brainstorming better ways to reach out to and expand the MPP Theatre base
* Outreach to certain communities based on the production (i.e. with Women of
Troy we reached out to veteran groups, Greek scholars, anti-war activists, students
etc.
* Work with marketing committee to solicit ads for the playbill, from business
owners and various community organizations.
Props
Reports to director / stage manager. Assists in building and /or coordinating
borrowing, and purchasing props and prop supplies.
Duties include:
* Assists stage manager in creating property plot for backstage.
* Organizes prop running crew as needed.
* Maintains stock of props.
Production Technical Director
Works with Director and staff Technical Director. Responsible for designing,
painting, and constructing all scenery and props for the selected production.
Must be willing to work as part of a team led by the director and willing to
keep open lines of communication. A healthy respect and understanding of all
those members of the production team is expected.
Set Construction.
Reports to Production Technical Director. This work requires physical activity,
willingness to get down and dirty, but also a chance to learn about creating
a set, set
design, and other technical skills. Hours vary, and increase in the two weeks
before a show opens.
Duties Include:
* Set Construction including carpentry and painting.
* Various artistic projects as the set demands
* Assisting the Production Technical Director with the implementation of the
set and the design
* Loading in and out construction materials, tools and completed set if necessary
Sound Board Operator
Works with Technical Director and Lighting Designer. Responsible for operating
sound board during production.
Sound Design
Works with Technical Director / Scenic Designer. Responsible for designing the
lighting & sound for the theatre production. Must be willing to work as
part of a team led by the director and willing to keep open lines of communication.

is expected.
Stage Crew
Reports to Stage Manager. This is a very physical position; members of the stage
crew should have the ability to perform theatrical tasks such as hanging and
focusing lights, hanging backdrops and setting up sound equipment. Stage Crew
must be on hand before, during and after each performance in order to effect,
initial set up, scene changes and set breakdown. After the play, you are in
charge of striking the set. Be sure that nothing is left on the stage after
the stage has been cleared.
Stage Manager
Reports to the Director. Theatre stage managers organize and co-ordinate rehearsals
and performances, liaising with the director, technical staff and other members
of stage management personnel. The stage manager leads a team that usually comprises
a deputy stage manager and assistant stage manager. In small companies/touring
theatres, the stage manager may handle all areas of the production. Together,
the stage management team organizes the production environment. They ensure
the availability of rehearsal space, conduct rehearsals, supervise access to
and exit from the venue, and ensure props and equipment are available and maintained.
The work also involves gathering, recording and disseminating production information
for other theatre departments.
Duties Include:
* setting up and running rehearsal schedules
* arranging costume and wig fittings;
* supervising the 'get in' to the theatre, when the set, lighting and sound
is installed, and the 'get out', when all the equipment is removed
* ensuring the company's welfare;
* running the backstage and onstage areas during performances;
* liaising with the director, stage personnel and other technical departments
(eg, costume, props, lighting and sound);
* calling actors for rehearsals and performances;
